THE CHALLENGE

This is by far be the longest swim I have ever attempted. I am not an athlete, nor a ‘proper swimmer’. I actually taught myself front crawl after not being able to complete 25m in a pool, without being exhausted. My technique is questionable at best. I expect the swim to take around 2hrs and I will not be wearing a wetsuit.

The distance is 6km (that’s 240 lengths of a standard pool) and one mile longer than a full IRONMAN Swim. I will also be exposed to the rain, wind, chop and tides to probably functioning on very little sleep.

The biggest obstacle is actually not lack of swimming background, fitness or environmental elements but Thalassophopia - a fear of deep open water, I can honestly say the thought of swimming or bobbing about in the deep dark blue terrifies me!

HOW TO DONATE

I dislike asking for sponsorship. I realise your money is hard earned, but just know that this is a significant challenge, for two very good causes.

Please donate what you can, every penny does count.
